This is the scene where Mayella is interview by Atticus and she denies attempting to seduce tom. She is lying and making an innocent man guilty.
My theme is around it's a crime to kill a mockingbird, or in this case Tom Robinson. I believe it's a crime to not take responsibilities for your actings, it can take a man's life. Not telling the truth will lead to worse things than they are without the lie. In the first box I have Mayella lying to the court room and making the courtroom believe that a crippled man raped Mayella.
In this scene, Miss Mayweather, Miss Maudie, and Scout are at a tea party. Miss Mayweather starts to talk bad on Atticus for standing up for African Americans in town, and is agreeing with sending missionaries to Africa. She is being hypocritical and believing the lies that Mayella told the town.
In this scene Tom Robinson is Murdered and shot 17 times, because Mayella didn't tell the truth. Now an innocent man is murdered for a deed he didn't do.
