At the time that the U.S. joined the war (1941), their allies consisted of Great Britain, France, and Russia who were fighting the Axis powers of Japan, Germany, and Italy.
During WWII Georgia played a very helping role to the war effort by establishing training camps for soldiers to be trained at such as the camp that was home of the U.S. infantry, Fort Benning.
Also during the war time, there were B-29 Bombers built in the Bell Aircraft Company plant in Mareitta and there were Liberty Ships built in Savannah and Brunswick. This gave jobs to those still suffering from unemployment and expanded the range of jobs females held.
Also there was a Women's Army Corps in Chichmauga, Georgia , which brought some women into the military and it was another military installation in Georgia.
As the war progressed after the U.S. entered some headway was made. After successfully taking the beach of Normandy, France the war in Europe progressed in the right way for the allies. The island hoping by the marines at this point has resulted in the main island of Japan getting closer. The fireside chats hosted by Franklin D. Roosevelt were astonishing to those at this point with all the information about the war.
