Mr. Awesome helps two students with a maths problem.
One gallon of milk costs $3.09 and a half gallon costs $1.65. I wounder how much one quart costs.
I don't know how we could figure this out. Let's go ask our maths teacher, Mr. Awesome, for help!
We need help with a maths problem.
Use the equation y=mx+b to help. First find the slope and substitute "m" for that number. You should get y=0.72x+b. This means that the price increases 72 cents per quart. Next solve for "b" by filling in the values for x and y from your problem. For example 3.09=0.72(4)+b.
Once you found that "b" is equal to 1.21. You have the equation y=0.72x+1.21. Now, use this equation to tell me how much a 3 gallon carton would cost.
y=0.72(12)+1.21 y=8.64+1.21 y=9.85
A 3 gallon carton would cost $9.85
