  • The Giver
  • Jonas's father is performing a ceremony of release whereby the baby that weighs less is given a lethal injection into a vein in his forehead. If society had choices then his father would have the choice to not kill the baby because it would be considered morally wrong to kill a baby based on how much it weighed and it being a twin.
  • In this scene the ceremony of twelves is taking place. When the Elder arrives at Jonas she skips him and returns to him at the end, she informs him, he has been selected as the "Receiver of Memory". To have the choice of choosing your job is important because it affects how you contribute to society through productivity, motivation and your future.
  • In this scene the Giver gives his memory of a rainbow to Jonas. The community cannot see color because of the choices people made along time ago to make everybody the same. The society should have the choice to see things in their natural color because it invokes feelings, creativity and inspiration.
