Marc Chagall was born in Belarus in 1887. He worked in France and died in 1985.
Chagall found his joy for art when he saw a classmate draw something on the corner of an assignment. He asked him how he did that and really wanted to learn how to do it as well.
He became inspired for his most famous work, I and the village, whilst sitting in the village of his birth and looking around. He saw vibrant life and motion all around and so, he painted.
Chagall moved to france and established himself in the art academy of paris. He became recognized worldwide for his original style.
Chagall's artwork reflects a lot of his Jewish roots and he always remained true to his religion.
Chagall died in France in 1985.
