Eliza is a good cook who works in the cook coffee house and a member of the Free African Society, she is close to the Cook Family of Grandfather, Mattie and Lucile.
Yet Lucille comes down with the Yellow Fever, causing the closing of the Cook Coffeehouse, and causing Grandfather and Mattie to leave
Because Lucille was sick, Grandfather and Mattie had to leave and go to the Farm.
Eliza moves into his brothers apartment when she discovers Mattie has come back, she figures out that Lucille went missing and Grandfather died. Eliza learns that Mattie found an orphan named Nell and has taken her in
Later, the kids that Eliza took care of got sick with the Fever, so Eliza and Mattie had to take them to the old ruined Coffeehouse, yet the next day, they woke up to frost, killing off the fever. When that happened the Markets reopened, so Mattie asked Eliza to help her reopen the Coffeehouse and she accepted.
The Coffeehouse was full of people, when in the middle of the day George Washington returned to Philadelphia, along with Washington was Lucille, she returned home with gray hair and very weak, yet she was sad to hear that Grandfather had died.
