  • The Chicago Cubs Baseball Organization started in 1870. They won their first pennant that year too. In 1884 a Cubs player named Ned Williamson became the first player to hit three homers in a game. The last world series won by the Cubs was in 1908. Since then they have never won. The only other time they won was the year before, 1907. The Cubs became the first team to win back to back championships. In 1914 the second oldest stadium was created, Wrigley Field. In 1918 the Cubs third baseman, Heine Zimmerman,tallied nine RBI's(Cubs record) against the Beaneaters. In 1932, The great Babe Ruth hit his "Called shot" against the Cubs. In 1953, Ernie Banks, the greatest Cubs player ever(Statistically) was drafted and hit his first homer. In 1958 the infamous two ball play, happened when the Cubs pitcher threw a wild pitch to Stan Musial and the catcher pulled a second ball out of the pitchers pocket and threw the guy trying to run to third out. The the guy got ejected for his actions. In 1962 the Cubs lost an MLB record 120 games. :( In 1965 the Cubs pitcher, Bob Hendly, Threw a no hitter, but walked four and gave up a run. Meanwhile, in the same game Sandy Koufax threw a perfect game. This is the only time in MLB history that this has happened.
