After the event, propaganda began to be created. The Sons of Liberty asked Henry Pelham to create a depiction of the event.
But after people saw the engraving they were outraged. It was not accurate. It made the event seem like the colonists were peaceful and the redcoats were shooting in formation.
After England heard of this event, they decided that they would put the redcoats involved on trial. This was because they did not want the colonists to have a reason to fight back at the British.
The redcoats then asked John Adams to plead for them because they knew that he would advocate for a fair trial. During the trial, he said that they should not be guilty, because there was no way this situation could have been avoided.
