  • We the people of the populist party nominate William Jennings Bryan to our leader.
  • Hello, my name is William Jennings Bryan. I am 36 years old and from Nebraska. I have served in Congress as representative , and I am strong supporter of silver.
  • "You shall not press down upon the brow of labor this crown of thorns; you shall not crucify mankind upon a cross of gold."
  • We do not care for William Jennings Bryan's silver issues and speaking style so we we nominate William McKinley.
  • The Election of 1896. The People's Party decided to make the free coinage of silver their focus of their campaign. William Jennings Bryan was a strong supported of silver. 
  • Hello, I am William McKinley a Republican running for president. 
  • William Jennings Bryan was powerful speaker and he won the Democratic nomination because he gave an amazing speech in defense of silver.
  • My campaign will focus more on urban workers because the economy is in a severe recession. 
  • My campaign focused on the silver issues. 
  • William Jennings Bryan campaigned and delivered over 600 speeches in 14 weeks. Many people did not care for his speaking style or the silver issue. Republicans knew it would be hard to win in the south and west so they decided on William McKinley, the governor of Ohio, as their candidate. 
  • I would like to take this time to thank the people of the United States for their votes in this election. I promise to ease the economic hardships and regulate big business.
  • Unlike, Bryan, McKinley had a "Front Porch Campaign" greeting all delegates who came to his home in Canton, Ohio.
  • Bryan's campaign focused on silver issues  whereas Mckinley's campaign focused more on the urban workers which gained his popularity in the northern states with more electoral votes.  
  • William McKinley won the 1896 election by obtaining 51% of the popular votes and 95% of the electoral votes.
