The slaves of southern white slaveowners usually lived in run down cabins and lived in harsh climates with little to no compassion from their masters. The salves a lot of the times were in familys and sometimes with one parent.
The children of slaves were not to be taught how to read. They couldnt even go to school. They had to sleep in uncomfortable beds if they even had one.
The female slaves depending on their rank worked in the house and basically cleaned and helped feed and take care of the slaveowners and his family.
The male slaves worked out in the feilds and handles all of the harsh and back bracking work.
Some slaves tried to escape but most failed and were caught by the slave patrol.
Slaves who disobyed or fought against their owners were forced to take on horrible punishments such as whippings orf sometimes death.
