  • Northern Free States: Feelings about state additions?
  • i trust the national government to do whats best.
  • looks at all this beautiful land.
  • Northern Free States: Feelings about the 36°30′ line?
  • Northern Free States: Who was involved?
  • no more slaves in this land from now on.
  • The northern people wanted to make it so that there were more free states than slave states. they also felt that congress was the only way to decide on if a state had slaves or not.
  • Southern Slave States: Feelings about state additions?
  • this land right here. this looks like some good land for slaves.
  • they were fine because it gave them more land witht the way america was set up at the time.
  • Southern Slave States: Feelings about the 36°30′ line?
  • this is texas. we like texas. no more questions needed.
  • Senator James Tallmadge proposed banning slaves in the LA territory. Senator Rufus King felt that only Congress had the right to determine whether or not a state was free or not.
  • Southern Slave States: Who was involved?
  • thought that they should all be slave states. and that the states had the right to choose for them selves.
  • They thought it was fine because they thought they would get Texas and other places in mexico soon enough.
  • Senator William Pinckney said that only states should be able to decide whether they are free or not. Senator Henry Clay proposed dividing the bill into 3 bills which passed and became the MO Compromise.
  • we need Missouri to be a slave state.
