Before the industrial revolution, most people lived in rural areas
Everyone had made their own clothes unless they could afford to pay someone to make it for them
Most had worked on farms and gathered their own recources
After the industrial revolution, a majority of people moved from rural to urban areas, taking up jobs in the factories
Materials became mass-produced by the introduction of coal power
This also pathed the way forthe invention of steam trains, steamboats and railroads that were able to quickly transport goods across the country and to new markets overseas.
