  • And his eyes have all the seeming of a demon's that is dreaming: Metaphor
  • The air grew denser perfumed from an unseen censer swung by seraphim whose foot falls tinkled on the tufted floor: Imagery
  • doubting, dreaming dreams no mortal ever dare to dream before: Alliteration
  • but the raven, sitting lonely on the placid bust spoke only that only that one word: Personification
  • “Leave my loneliness unbroken” This quote from the poem shows that he is lonely without his wife Lenore. The bird keeps saying never more because he will never see his wife again.
