Storyboard Text

  • Helen, Helen!
  • My husband, Miss Annie, Captain Keller.
  • Captain, how do you do.
  • A pleasure to see you at last. I trust you had an agreeable journey.
  • You devil.
  • Helen was a 19 month old baby when she first became blind and deaf.  Kate and Captain Keller, her parents had a doctor come because Helen was sick.  The doctor said she had an acute congestion and that she would be fine.  When the doctor left Kate was talking to the baby and realized Helen was blind and deaf.  She yelled with fear for Captain Keller.  When he came up the stairs he said it would all be fine, but Kate interrupts him. She  starts to show him that Helen is deaf and blind. In the novel it jumps to when Helen is 6 years old and is playing paper dolls with Martha and Percy.  Martha starts to cut the paper dolls and Helen is feeling Percy's lips.  Percy bites Helen’s finger and Helen gets mad.  She takes the scissors from Martha and tries to cut her with them.
  • After, Kate brings Helen inside she takes off to meet Annie Sullivan.  Kate and Annie talk about Helen and get to know each other.  At the house Helen is feeling around the room that will soon be Annie’s.  In the Cell you see Annie when she just arrives to the house with Kate.  In this scene Keller offers to take Annie's things to her room.  She says no thank you, but he offers again.  After a little while Annie informs him angrily that there is something in her bag for Helen and that she would like to take them up to her room herself.   After this scene she is upstairs with Helen spelling into her hand. She spells doll and then puts the doll into Helen's hand.  Helen throws the doll at Annie's face with great energy.  Helen then gets the key while Annie is at the mirror and locks her in.  She can’t get out and Keller has to get her out from the window with a ladder.
  • When Keller gets Annie outside everybody leaves and it's just Helen and Annie left outside.  Annie hides in the bushes while Helen feels if anybody is around.  Then Helen pops the key out of her mouth and into the well. After Annie goes inside in time for breakfast.  As they are eating breakfast Helen is sticking her hand in everyone's food.  When she got to Annie's plate Annie wouldn't allow it and Helen got mad.  Keller asked Annie to stop but she refused.  Annie asked for everyone to leave, so they all went outside.
  • You know that words have a name and meaning!
  • Wah Wah
  • In this scene Helen and Annie are fighting.  Annie is trying to teach Helen to eat from her own plate.   She sits Helen down and gives her her own plate.  Helen refuses and starts to eat from Annie's plate.  This goes on for a while and then Helen gets out of her seat.   She runs to each door trying to open them.  Annie locks the doors and sits Helen back down.  She runs again hoping to get out.  At one point Helen punched Annie in the face.  Then Annie slapped Helen across the face, which made Helen mad because nobody has done that to her before.  Then after all kinds of drama Annie and Helen came out to Kate.  They looked a mess and so did the dining room.  Kate was a little angry, but then Annie said that Helen folded her napkin.  Kate was amazed.
  • After the dining room event Captain Keller was talking to Kate while Annie was in her room packing her bags.  Captain said he didn’t think Annie was a good fit for Helen.  As Annie came down she started talking to Captain Keller and Kate.  Keller starts to say basically that he does not think she is a good fit for Helen and is going to fire her.  Then he stops and states he decides to give her another chance .  Annie  starts saying it is hopeless because of their pity on Helen.  After that she proposes an idea to him. She states she wants to take Helen to the garden house and be in charge of everything for her.   At first Keller does not like the idea but Kate talks to him.  He gives her two weeks and Percy for a servant.  In those two weeks she teaches Helen the normal table manners, she also hatched a baby chick in her hand.  Annie taught Helen to keep herself clean, knitting, string beads, and meals.  They climb trees, hunted for eggs, and set up exercises.  These are all the things Annie taught her through out the two weeks.
  • After the two weeks Annie and Helen came back to the house.  Everybody was so happy Helen was back that Kate made all of Helen's favorite foods.   As they started to eat Helen dropped her napkin on the ground.  Annie picks it up but Helen drops it on the ground again.   James, Helen's half brother, tells Annie Helen is testing her.  Annie then takes away Helen's plate and Helen gets angry.   After she takes the pitcher of water and pours it all over Annie.  Annie takes her out to the pump and starts making her pump more water.  Helen then says “wah wah” meaning water.  Annie spells water into Helen's hand and then makes her feel the water.  Helen then spells the word back into Annie’s hand.  Annie is amazed that Helen learned a word had a meaning and a name. This is how much Annie could accomplish in the short amount of time she used and how the miracle worker ended.
