Storyboard Text

  • When you're young you just accept what's happening.
  • Most of the kids I knew were living on the base too. We were all military families, who inevitably moved a lot.
  • Growing up in a family where you have to move a lot is difficult. I suppose it’s a two way sword; it’s upsetting but also it teaches you to be flexible and adapt to a changing situation, which is probably good for you.
  • During World War Two my father was transferred to the Maui Air Force base.
  • On December 7, 1941, I didn’t expect to be bombed.
  • All the news at that time you were hearing was about Germany, which was attacking all over Europe. I’m sure other people knew it, but I didn’t know the Japanese were going be the ones that attacked us. I was surprised by that.
  • I have to find Jeanette and get to the basement!
