After Creon talks to the people about what kind of leader he would be, the Sentry comes to the king delivering him some news. The news he delivers is that Polyneices has been cover with with a light dusting of dirt, enough for the gods to take him of what would be "properly buried".
“No, from the very beginning/ There have been those who have whispered together, / Stiff-necked anarchists, putting their heads together, / Sceheming against me in alleys. These are the me, / And they have bribed my own guard to do this thing” (Sophocles I.140-4).
When Creon receives the news from the Sentry he threats him telling him that he needs to find the man that has tried to bury Polyneices and if he does not do so he will experience a death he does not want to experience. This causes the Sentry to ensure he did not do anything and causes him to gather his men.
“Find that man, bring him here to me, or your death/ Will be the least of your problems” (Sophocles i.152-3).
Creon has an internal conflict. The question is what will happen to Thebes when the laws aren't followed?
