Storyboard Text

  • Tone:
  • It seemed so hopeless after or from the beginning because Doodle kept collapsing into the ground when he stood up every time.
  • " I can't walk, Brother "
  • "Mama, the  doctor-everybody" " I just can't do it"
  • "Who says so?"
  • " Oh yes you can Doodle" " I'm going to teach you to walk"
  •  "OMG!!! honey, i love you so much!!!"
  • Mood:
  • When Mama, Daddy, and Aunt Nicey were at the dinning room for breakfast, there were about to get an unexpected surprise which could change their lives.
  • " I knew he could do it"
  • "Everyone!!! my brother was the one who showed me how to learn to walk.
  • "I cant believe it!!! my son is actually walking, yay!!!
  • "Oh my!!! You're walking my boy"
  •                        Brother's                  Character Traits:
  • Brother is Dynamic in this story, because he changes by being a mere brother to Doodle into his best friend.
  • "Turns out I'm Dynamic!!!"
  • Tone Word: Hopeless Explanation: I choose the tone word Hopeless for this scene, because in this part of the story, Doodle felt hopeless and kept convincing his older brother that he was not capable on learning how to walk because he always fell to the ground when he kept trying & trying. Hopeless: This scene is hopeless for Doodle, because it shows that him wants to give up, because he does not believe or think that he can walk since he always falls when trying.
  •                           Doodle's                    Character Traits:
  • Doodle is Dynamic in this story because, he changes by learning to do new things that his brother pushes him to do.
  • Mood Word: Hopeful Explanation: I choose the mood word Hopeful for this scene, because in this part of he story, Doodle has now learned how to walk by himself, thanks to his brother's helping him in a little selfish way, when the day came along in which they were going to tell and show Mama, Daddy and Aunt Nicey that Doodle had learned how to walk,  Brother knew that this would foreshadow a good future with Doodle as part of their family and that his family would be very happy due to this. Hopeful: This scene is hopeful for the whole family, because it shows that the family is very happy and grateful that their son Doodle has learned how to walk and won't crawl anymore which could foreshadow a good future.
  • Theme:
  • Pride is a major theme in this story, "The Scarlet Ibis" because pride is linked with shame and embarrassment over his little brother Doodle, who has a disability which can also be harmful because, since the narrator was so ashamed to have a brother like that, he wanted to kill him at first.
  • " Other themes are, Guilt and Blame"
  • Type of Character: Dynamic Why is he that type of character? Explanation:  Brother's type of character is Dynamic in this story because, from a mere and selfish brother, he turns into Doodles best friend which later on play together. Brother is a Dynamic character because, from a  mere brother into a fast and best friend, Brother changes in the story this way in order to teach Doodle how to walk, so that way he won't have to be carrying him around and both would be able to have a bit more fun together but, this foreshadows the ending on the story on how  Brother will push Doodle to do more things besides walking that he can't do which will result at the end.
  • Figurative Language
  • Metaphor Continued...  and how Doodle has bled to death and his body violently broke down as he tried to run with all his heart to keep up with his brother who chose to run away from him.
  • Type of Character: Dynamic Why is he that type of Character? Explanation: Doodle's type of character is a Dynamic character in this story, based upon the fact that he learns to do many new things such as walk, because of his brother pushes him very hard. Doodle is a Dynamic character because during the story he changes by learning to do new things such as walking due to his brother's lessons in pushing him to do it.
  • " I'm Dynamic too!!!"
  • What is the Theme of the story? The theme for this story is love and pride war in Brother's, motivations to help Doodle so his love encourages kindness, but his shame at Doodle's failings results in the cruelty that kills the younger boy at the end of the story. Theme: Pride, Love, Blame and Guilt
  • " Some themes are, Pride and Love"
  • Two Types of Figurative Language: Simile And Metaphor Examples And Explanation On why Author Used Them:  Simile. "but the oriole nest in the elm was untenanted and rocked back and forth like an empty cradle". The author is using this simile to show that the empty oriole nest, although rustically made of twigs, paper, and such, is akin to an empty cradle and also conveys the message of emptiness as concerns fragile birds and their nests and fragile babies and their cradles. Metaphor. "I lay there crying, sheltering my fallen scarlet ibis from the hard rain". The author compares Doodle to the fiery red bird...,   and how Doodle has bled to death and his body violently broke down as he tried to run with all his heart to keep up with his brother who chose to run away from him.
  • "Noooooo!!!"
