Storyboard Text

  • Do you know anything about exponents?
  • I don't really understand them
  • Well, what do you know?
  • I know that an exponent is a value that raises a number to a power
  • And that the number being risen, is the base
  • Is there anything you need to know?
  • Okay
  • Everything else
  • First is the product, quotient, and power rules
  • If dividing, then subtract the exponents
  • If raising a power to a power you multiply the exponents
  • If multiplying numbers with the same base you add the exponents
  • Last is the fraction, zero, and negative, power rules
  • If the exponent is a negative then the base switches places from numerator to demoninator or the other way
  • If the exponent is zero then the result is always one
  • With a fraction, if there is an exponent then both the numerator and denominator use the power
  • Okay, you're welcome
  • Okay, I understand it now, thanks
