Storyboard Text

  • Henry VII Defeated Richard III at the Battle of Bosworth. He was crowned King. He married Elizabeth of York to combine the houses of York and Lancaster.
  • His First son, Arthur died before him so the new heir was Henry VIII. Henry VIII married his brother's last wife, Catherine of Aragon.
  • Henry VII died and Henry VIII became king.
  • Catherine of Aragon had a girl and then got too old to have any more children and this is one of the reasons why Henry divorced her.
  • The catholic church - Catholicism was the religion at the time in England - would not allow divorce so Henry created his own church:  The church of England. The king was in control of this church and therefore the religion in England. This meant he could allow divorce and get a new wife after Catherine of Aragon.
  • When Henry had a horrible accident in a jousting tournament, he changed. His health got worse and he went from being sporty and generous to being a cruel, overweight tyrant.
  • Henry loved one of the ladies of Catherine of Aragon, called Anne Boleyn.
