  • Odysseus instructed his crew to tie him to the mast of the ship, in order to hear the sirens sing.
  • Odysseus and his crew managed to avoid Charybdis, she sucks black water down and spews it out three times a day.
  • Instead, they faced the deadly Scylla, the six-headed monster who ripped six crew-members out of odysseus's ship and ate them.
  • Odysseus's crew feasted on Helios' cattle, even though they were warned about the consequences.
  • Helios was furious. He asked Zeus to take his vengeance now. With a dazzling thunderbolt, Zeus struck their ship, smashing it into tiny pieces.
  • Odysseus drifted for nine days, on the tenth night, the gods conducted him to Ogygia, the island, where the fair-haired goddess, Calypso lived.
