The comic explores how some of the laws which stand today have affected the mental health of a young women, Casey Lang, at an extreme level. By allowing audiences to get an inside look of Casey’s mental health it unravels how each of the crimes she has been a victim of have affected her and in turn caused her to be detained in a prison mental health institution by law.
Casey gives detailed encounters of how her father raped her, the abortion of her baby boy and her attempted suicide. Each of these things all being punishable crimes which open the audiences eyes to current laws and how when on trial she was seen to be the one in the wrong. The play itself allows us to not only question the status of current laws, but the morals which we and society hold.
On the outskirts of town there was a mental hospital where a young women called Casey stayed.
Casey's room was like a prison cell. They believed that this was the only way to keep Casey safe, but for the first time ever the hospital are allowing her to tell her story.
