  • New York City, October 29th, 1929
  • The stock market crashed!
  • Toronto, Ontario
  • The Smith's are a family living in Toronto. Rose's husband died in WWI. Rose's 15 year old daughter Betty never got to meet her father. As a result of the stock market crashing, these two will face many obstacles to survive.
  • The stock market crash will affect Canadian lives!
  • As a result of the Great Depression lots of people lost their jobs. Most workplaces would fire the women so they could work in the house and the men could have jobs, Rose was one of these women. Although she had no husband to pay for basic necessities, and she was now fired
  • How am I going to take care of my daughter?!
  • We are very sorry Rose, but we need more jobs for men
  • Week 2
  • Without enough money to pay rent, Rose and Betty had one week to get their belongings and find somewhere new to live
  • EVICTION NOTICE
  • We'll figure it out
  • I hope...
  • What are we going to do?
  • Week 3
  • With no where to live, Rose decides to sell all of her furniture and belongings to be able to feed her daughter
