A character was leaving Gatsby's house and was drunk,was in the and then drove into a ditch, this shows the theme of reckless disregard for others. This is shown when the driver states, "What happened? Did we run outta gas?" this shows that the driver wasn't paying attention and was out of it (Fitzgerald 54.)
Jordan left,Tom crashed a wagon. Jordan states, "He ripped a front wheel of his car," this shows that Tom doesn't care about the safety of others, this is reckless disregard for others (Fitzgerald 77.) Tom didn't take caution to the surrounding around him.
Myrtle was killed in a car crash. This is shown when stated, "her life violently extinguished," this shows reckless disregard for others because the driver was going to fast and killed Myrtle (Fitzgerald 137.) The driver was driving recklessly.
