Approach The Valley
Approach the valley is when the hero counters setbacks during tests and may need to try a new strategy and/or get help from the mentor for example after many years of being held captive, Odysseus did not trust Calypso's words.
The ordeal is a major life or death crisis for example the wind roared from the north, south, east, and west. Odysseus feared he was about to come to a terrible, lonely end.
The reward is when the hero has survived death and over comes his fear and now earns the reward for example Telemachus grabbed his father and they both cried together and Penelope gave a shout of joy and rushed into Odysseus' arms.
