The Representatives of the British crown first landed at New Zealand around the the upper north.
William Hobson arrived to bay of islands at New Zealand on the 29 of January 1840.
After a few days William Hobson got some help from the missionaries Henry and Edward Williams the treaty of Waitangi was drafted.
The treaty was reviewed over with Maori's at the Busby's home at Waitangi.
The treaty was approved and was signed by 40 Maori chefs and another 500 Maoris had signed copies of the treaty.
In the end the 6th of February is known for when the treaty of Waitangi was signed.
