World War II was a global war that started in 1939. The war forced many Canadian soldiers to leave their homes and fight in the battle fields, defending their country.
On September 10,1939, Canada declared war on Germany.
The first Canadian troops arrived in Britain in December 1939.
On August 19, 1942, Canadian troops played an important role in the Dieppe raid in France. Many lives were lost.
In July 1945, Canadian troops entered Germany as part of the occupying force.
On September 2, 1945, World War II officially ended. Soldiers went back home and will forever be remembered as heroes to their countries.
