  • Lexington and Concord
  • "Shot heard 'round the world" (Emerson, page 173).
  • Valley Forge
  • "the soldiers 'loved him' they'd sell their lives for him" (Downing, page 203)
  • Fort Sackville
  • "If a country is not worth protecting, it is not worth claiming" (Clark, page 203).
  • Lexington and Concord occurred in April of 1775. A very important person in this battle was Captain John Parker. In the end, the Americans won.
  • Charles Town
  • Valley Forge occurred in August of 1780. The important people of this event included General Howe, Washington, and Colonel John Brooks. No one won this because it was not a battle.
  • Camden
  • Fort Sackville happened in May 1778 and lasted until February 1779. George Rogers and Patrick Henry played important roles in this battle and it was eventually won by the Americans.
  • Battle of Yorktown
  • Charles Town was an important battle that happened in West Indies in the year 1780. General Henry Clinton played an important part in this battle and the British ended up taking the victory.
  • In 1780, a British army led by General Henry Clinton landed in South Caroline" (page 207).
  • Camden happened in August of 1780. General Gates and Francis Marion were important individuals in this battle. British had ended up winning the battle.
  • "Their number did not exceed 20 men and boys" (page 207).
  • The major event called Battle of Yorktown occurred in October, 1781. Some important people in this battle were Cornwallis, Washington, Rochambeau, and Lord North. The Americans won this battle.
  • "It is all over!" (Lord North, page 210).
