Storyboard Text

  • Edward Bloor
  • Several choices affect Paul in the novel Tangerine such as Paul choosing to go to Tangerine Middle, Paul deciding to jump on Coach Warner's back, and Paul choosing to play for the Tangerine soccer team.
  • Tangerine
  • "'I want to go to Tangerine Middle School, and I want to go with no IEP"'(94).
  • Although it may not seem like it, this choice is one of the most momentous choices in the entire story. It basically flips Paul's life upside down because he meets new friends, has fun on the soccer team, and creates an unbreakable bond with the other members of the soccer team.
  • "I landed hard on Coach Warner's back and held on tight, riding his neck and shoulders"(259).
  • Paul decides to jump on Coach Warner's back because he was trying to help his soccer teammates escape after they attacked Erik. This shows that Paul is completely loyal to the Tangerine kids and will do almost anything to help them
  • This choice shows that Paul is willing to join the soccer team no matter what because it is a big part of his life. This becomes a big decision because he makes friends on the soccer team and becomes loyal to them.
  • "'Yes ma'am. That's what I want to do"'(103)
