  • Erastus reached for the blanket against the early morning chil slapping a hand against his rough wool pants no blanket know he was cold and awake everything came back in a rush his wife struggling though labor that killed here and his little son who only took a few short breathes burying the to of them in there only blanket deep sadness drove the cold into his broken heart the stamping of the horses brought Erastus to his feet caring for them retreved his thoughts and gave him purpose he had too get to the maughns fort before dark he needed water and supplies to make it to the sand flat wear his wifes family had land set aside set aside for her and her family of which he was the only survivor erastus shivered as he thought of facing Constances family of having to tell them about theyre only daughter and their grandson tears ran freely again he had to get himself under control hitching the horses to the wagon occupied his hands and if he moved quickly enough his mind as well any thought was better then realty the storys of shoshoni attacks
