  • Foreign Policies!

  • When Elizabeth died without leaving an heir, James I became king. 
  • While in office, James clashes with parliament and the dissenters.
  • Money?
  • No!  We are going to revolt!
  • Chales I inherits the throne.
  • 1640
  • 1653
  • Parliament makes Chalres sign the Petition of Right, but Charles gets rid of Parliament and does what he wants instead.
  • King Chalres cannot tax whomever he wants, nor can he throw whomever he wants in jail.
  • Charles asks Parliament for money, but since Charles disobeyed the Petition of Right, Parliamnet says no and has their own revolt.  
  • This time period is known as the Long Parliament because it was in use on and off for 13 years
