Civil War Photography
I am known for taking pictures of camp life and portraits between 1844-1857
I took pictures of the dead on the field. I started to do portraits in 1861
I am Mathew Brady and I took picture of the battles of Fredricksburg and Gettysburg.
I am Alexander Gardner and I took pictures of the Battle of Antietam. We took pictures for families back home.
We did a process called Daguerreotype for our photographs.
It was invented in 1839.
Alexander Gardner took pictures of the suspects who killed Lincoln when they were executed.
The pictures taken during the War helps us understand what camp life was like for the soldiers.
The North must be feeling horrible right now....
