  • Suez Canal Crisis of 1956
  • Wow! what beautiful land, I could live here forever.
  • Scheming
  • That canal is a perfect reason to attack Egypt!
  • Yeah HaHa I hate them.
  • The Plan In Action
  • This is my land I am not leaving
  • You should have listened to us!
  • The crisis began with Egypt taking control over the Suez Canal.
  • When Things Do Not Go As Planned 
  • The British, the French, and the Israelis all had issues with Nasser's government at the time. They decided to use the canal as a reason to attack Egypt
  • One Last Threat

  • That plan sucked!

  • Just like they had planned, the Israeli's attacked and grabbed the canal. Then the British and French jumped in. 
  • The Canal Stays Open
  • They told both sides to stop, but when Egypt wouldn't they bombed Egypt's air force. 
  • That will teach them to listen to us!
  • . The Soviet Union had also threatened to enter the Suez Crisis on the side of the Egyptians. The United States ended up forcing the Israelis, the British, and the French to withdraw in order to prevent conflict with the Soviet Union. 
  • The Suez Canal had strategic and economic impact for both the Soviet Union and the United States. It was in both of their interests to keep the canal open.
