  • Oberon -"What thou seest when thou dost wake do it for thy true love take" (Shakespeare 44).
  • Outcome
  • Titania says "On the first to say to swear I love thee" (Shakespeare 61).
  • Oberon is jealous of Titania and the blue Indian boy . This pushes the plot forward because this leads Oberon to put a love potion on Titania's eyes.
  • Key event
  • Tom Snout- "O Bottom thou art changed" (Shakespeare 59).
  • Oberon is putting the love potion on Titania's eyes and hopes that she will fall in love with something disgusting so he can take the blue Indian boy away. This leads to her falling in love with Nick bottom.
  • How it propels the action
  • Nick Bottom-" I see there knavery is to make an ass of me; to fright me if they could. But I will not stir from this place, Do what they can: I will walk up and down here and I will sing" (Shakespeare 60).
  • Because of the love potion that Oberon put on Titania's eyes she has now fallen in love with Nick Bottom. This is all because of Titania's love for the blue Indian boy.
  • Outcome
  • Titania-"What angel wakes me from my flowery bed?" (Shakespeare 60)
  • The key event is that Puck plays a trick on Nick Bottom and turns him into a Donkey. This causes the others to get scared and run away.
  • The prank Puck plays on Nick Bottom affects the plot because, when Nick is turned into a donkey the others get scared and run away. Nick does not know he is a donkey so he thinks they are trying to trick him. So he stays in the woods and sings which wakes up Titania.
  • Because Puck turned Bottom into a donkey he thought the others were making fun of him so he decided he would stay and sing. His singing woke Titania who (under the influence of the love potion) falls in love with Nick Bottom.
