  • Napoleon was trained in the art of war and was very successful military general for the French. In 1800, Napoleon was voted in as the French leader. At first, he appeared to be a fantastic leader...
  • Troops sent to Spain and Portugal attacked through Guerilla tactics
  • Ineffective  French blockable against Great Britain
  • Failed invasion of Russia, death of troops

  • Later, however, Napoleon created the Napoleonic Code. Although this code restored order, it also brought upon harsh injustices, as shown above. Napoleon's rule was slowly becoming more absolute.
  • Soon after, in 1804, Napoleon decided to make himself the emperor of France. He controlled much of Europe and defeated countries who tried to stop him. Eventually, France's empire became the largest since the Romans!
  • Eventually, Napoleon made come costly mistakes that led to his collapse. He set up a blockade near Britain (ineffective), sent troops to Spain & Portugal (French troops defeated), and invaded Russia (troops froze to death), which forced him to surrender to Europe.
  • Following his surrender, Napoleon is exiled to an island off the Haitian coast. However, he soon escapes at the news of a new monarchy on the rise. He wanted to raise an army and defeat the tyrant. At first, Napoleon was well-received...
  • Then, a coalition was formed to defeat Napoleon and he lost. He was captured and sent to live on the island of St. Helena. Here he lived in isolation for 6 years until he died of sickness in 1821.
