  • Young Philip cannot seem to understand why his village has to suffer through this drought.
  • Frustrated and curious, he goes to a monk in the village seeking answers. But what he gets is not what he wanted.
  • Dukkha
  • What have I done to suffer?
  • Suffering is everywhere my child. For as long as we kill, we will suffer.
  • Samudaya
  • So what do I do? I don't want to suffer anymore!
  • One suffers because of misplaced desires and attachment rooted in ignorance.
  • It isn't about what you've done, it is simply a thing we have to endure living in this realm. 
  • Nirodha
  • How do I reach nirvana?
  • As long as one strives for nirvana, there will be an end to suffering.
  • Cease all desires.
  • Right view, right thought, right speech, right conduct, right vocation, right effort, right attention and right meditation
  • Marga
  • There is a path out of suffering. It's called the Noble Eightfold Path one must practice.
  • Through focused meditation and karmic acts, one will be closer to nirvana. 
  • It is a journey Philip. You won't find it right away.
  • I will do my best!
