There were benefits and challenges of coming to Canada though. The Canadian government gladly helped us get settled and helped support us. We faced many challenges while coming to Canada. We had to leave our homes, culture and even everything we had. It was also difficult to live in Canada due to the lack of English we spoke.
Though we are Canadians now, our past still lies in the cultures of Vietnam and we still miss many of those things.
One of the main things I miss in Vietnam is our food. Though we still have Vietnamese food in Canada the Phở here is nothing like the one we had back home.
Our communities come together as one and celebrate Vietnamese New Year and the Moon festival throughout the year. We celebrate prosperity and let go of negative things that have happened and look forward to the new year. We celebrate the harvest and our food during the moon festival.
Our clothing and music are also recognizable in our culture.
Vietnam also 3 main religions which are Buddhism, Confucianism, and Taoism. Buddhism is most dominant in Vietnam
Thanks for en lighting me on this topic dad.
I hope you learned something about our past and our culture today my son, goodbye.
