  • A round Jar was placed on a Tennesee hill, The wilderness rose it up and it took Dominion over all everywhere, but the jar was grey and bare, like nothing else in Tennesee.

  • The dark sky,dark clouds, round jar, bare and grey jar, sprawled around.

  • The attitude is a bit depressing at first, but shifts into a great bold leader like speaker. It is uprising and downward fallng, and the poem switched attitudes quickly.

  • The Poem shifts from a boring old jar to a great jar with dominion and then back to a jar that is useless to the better nature.
  • Anectdote of a Jar refers to how there will always be competion for dominion and rule, and how there are multiple ways to achieve greatness.
  • Stevens compares nature to man and other items like the jar. He talks about how the jar is above nature, and how then at the end of the poem nature raises above the jar. It compares the two and which has dominion.
