Asoka was a strong military leader. After a bloody fight, he walked over to the battlefield and saw his me dead or wounded.
After Asoka left his military he dedicate his life to peace. And follow the teachings of the Buddha.
He also created hospitals for sick or hurt people, and animals.
He made roads too, so people could travel on them easier to trade. He also made rest stops for the travelers.
Emperor Asoka had a strong, energetic personality. He began preaching the Buddhist ideas that people should be honest, truthful, and nonviolent.
Asoka sent many Buddhist teachers throughout India and the rest of Asia. They carried the religion to new believers.
