Satchel was born on July 7, 1906 and died on June 8, 1982. He also wrote some books. When he was playing in the Negro Leagues he had 21 straight scoreless innings, and 21 straight wins. He got brought up to the MLB. In 1972, he was elected into the Hall of Fame.
He and his dad both played in the MLB. His dad was in the All Stars and Hall of Fame. Paige was also elected in the Hall of Fame. Satchel was an all star pitcher. He won the pennant the first year in the MLB.
He played for teams from around the country and world. He played in the Negro Leagues and the MLB. Evert year he played in the MLB, he was in the All Star game. He even was a really good author and wrote a book called, "Hesitation Pitch". He was the first African American to play in the American League.
