  • Sure, but you have to go through a drug test.
  • Hey, Can I try out for the football team?
  • We will not let that happen to you son.
  • To try out for the team I need to go through a drug test.
  • They are abusing my right that is under the 4th amendment
  • James Acton asks his school football coach if he can try out for the football team. But, the coach says you would have to go through a drug test first.
  • But when James' parents heard about this drug test they refused to let it happen. The school ended up not allowing James to be on the team because of this.
  • We Rule In Favor Of The School!
  • I really thought we would win!
  • James' parents ended up attempting to sue the school district because they thought the drug test counted as an unreasonable search under the 4th amendment. So in their opinion they thought that the school district were abusing their rights.
  • We will honor the ruling of the Supreme Court
  • The case kept getting appealed earning itself all the way to the supreme court where a final decision was made.
  • The Supreme Court ended up making a decision in favor of the school district. The ruling of this case was made so they can keep the school safe and student athletes have to expect these losses of rights.
  • Since then other ruling of the same topic have came to court but all have stuck to the original ruling of the Supreme Court.
