  • Lets make a deal, Henry, that makes me president
  • OK , I'll get rid of Jackson if your make me secretary of state
  • Henry Clay's persuasion to the House
  • ...so that's why you should vote for Adams instead of Jackson.
  • Well that was very convincing leaving us one choice in John Quincy Adams.
  • After debate with Congress we have elected John Quincy Adams as President.

  • As my first role of president I nominate Henry Clay as secretary of state.
  • In the Corrupt Bargain, Henry Clay and John Quincy Adams made a deal that would take Jackson out of the running and make Adams president with his secretary of state, Henry Clay.

  • I opened up more spots for white men to vote by reducing the land requirement and I won my presidency after a landslide of votes
  • Once Congress found out about the Corrupt Bargain between Adams and Clay they tried to undermine Adams at any point and the bargain cast a shadow over his whole presidency
  • This was the election of 1828 where Jackson one in a landslide being the first president to get the majority of votes from most of the states.

  • The significance of the elections of 1824 and 1828 was that John Quincy Adams was cast out form government after the corrupt bargain and President Jackson created more voting spots for white men gaining more popularity with the people.
