The first natives to encounter Europeans were the Mississippians. They had a culture of farming and they believed in the afterlife. They had a chiefdom system with guard towers and giant earth mounds. The Europeans invaded their land and many died from diseases or weapons or ran away.
The Spanish were the first Europeans to discover Georgia. They came to spread Christianity, find gold, and get more land and glory. They did not get along with natives because they brought diseases and war.
England was the country that settled on the eastern coastline. Factors that contribute to a successful colony are befriending natives, growing corn, and growing tobacco. Georgia was a buffer zone because it was on the boundary of multiple countries' territories.
