  • "A little more than kin, and less than kind." Hamlet mumbles under his breath that the marriage is too close in the family to be normal.

  • "O God, God, How weary, stale, flat, and unprofitable Seem to me all the uses of this world!" Hamlet is upset about his father's death.

  • Ghost
  • Is that the ghost of the king?
  • "Do not for ever with thy vailèd lids Seek for thy noble father in the dust. Thou know'st 'tis common; all that lives must die, Passing through nature to eternity." Gertrude tells Hamlet to stop mourning his father's death.

  • "What, has this thing appeared again tonight?" Marcellus asks Barnardo if he has seen the ghost tonight.

  • Have you seen the ghost?
  • I wonder if he has seen the ghost

  • Looks not like the king? Mark it, Horatio? Barnardo notices that the ghost looks like the dead King Hamlet.
  • Horatio
  • yes it does.
  • It looks like the king.
  • But soft, behold! Lo, where it comes again. I'll cross it though it blast me.- Stay, illusion! Horatio sees the ghost and asks it to stay.
  • stay ghost!
  • Yea stay!
