  • Mrs. Schwab is a new 9th grade teacher
  • Mrs. S has the students write a short paper introducing themselves
  • She recognizes that most of the students' writing is severely limited
  • Mrs. Schwab is worried that her students' poor spelling, grammar and punctuation skills may affect more than their writing skills
  • I need to help my students learn to support themselves as writers...
  • We will work on writing, listening and speaking skills because they are all critical to communication
  • On Monday, Mrs. S and the class practiced active listening while Mr. Jones gave a presentation on recycling.
  • After the presentations each student wrote a paragraph on why the believe recycling is important, the students then participated in peer editing giving polite and helpful comments on another's paper.
