  • The Enlightenment was a time in which many traditions and beliefs were changed due to the advancement in science. The Enlightenment happened during the 16th and 18th century.
  • The Enlightenment was also called the Age of Reason. The Scientific Evolution was started during the Enlightenment.
  • There were many philosophers who encouraged the Enlightenment. Some of them were Voltaire , Locke , Hobbes and Montesquieu.
  • Francois - Marie Aroute, AKA Voltaire was a french philosopher that believed in religious tolerance and freedom of speech
  • One of his most famous quotes was ,"I disapprove of what you say, but will defend to the death your right to say it".
  • I can do what I want! Let me GO!
  • Sir I have orders to arrest you for what you say
  • He was arrested in Bastille in 1717 for that reason.
  • John Locke was an English philosopher and physician, widely regarded as one of the most influential of Enlightenment thinkers and commonly known as the "Father of Liberalism".
  • "I have always thought the actions of men the best interpreters of their thoughts".
