Conflict Within the Great Gatsby
This storyboard does not have a description.
Daisy vs. Self
I can't take this anymore. Tom, take me home please.
Daisy, you can't have us both. You must chose.
Gatsby vs. Tom
She never loved you, Old Sport! Come on, Daisy, just tell him.
You must be crazy!
Gatsby vs. Society
I'm so glad they finally invited me to hang out. I thought they would never!
Who does he think he is? He'll never be one of us no matter how much money he makes.
Daisy struggles when choosing whether or not to pick Tom or Gatsby. Tom has been with her for years while Gatsby has been off fighting in the war. Tom has the name and the money. However, Gatsby was her love before Tom. She almost called off her wedding for him. She decides to stay with Tom because it would be too complicated to leave him for Gatsby. This is the moment when she ultimately chooses Tom.
Gatsby and Tom have conflicting opinions over who Daisy truly loves. They each believe that there is no possible way that she could love the other. Tom believes that they have had so many good years together. They had to have meant something to her. But Gatsby states that she never loved him. She just settled for Tom while he was out fighting in the war. This was an argument well awaited. The two of them reached a boiling point and just had to speak their minds.
Gatsby doesn't realize that the people in East Egg will never accept him. They see him as "new money". In other words, he attained his money recently. He will never have the name and the "old money". The people from east egg often mock him by pretending to invite him to lunches or going to ride polo horses together. Gatsby falls for the bate every time. He doesn't actually grasp that they are only teasing him.
