Now, remember, when you hear the bell, quietly rise from your desks and find a space on the floor on the other side of the room. Let's see if we can do this in 30 seconds! Ready? (Rings bell).
It's time for Morning Meeting!
Folks, think back to last Friday's group project. Some of you worked together for the first time and we should talk about how it went. Suzy-why don't you start and tell Joey what it was like to work with him? Don't forget to start with two nice things!
Joey- I didn't know you were so funny! It was really fun working with you. But it was hard to concentrate on the job we had to do, because you were joking so much. It's really important to me to get good grades and I wanted to focus more on the assignment rather than to just joke around.
Hmm...Thank you for being so honest, Suzy. It's important to share our feelings even if it doesn't always feel comfortable to do it. Joey- how did it make you feel to hear Suzy say that? Do you think she has a point about not joking during the assignment?
(Blushing, a little embarrassed) I guess so....I didn't really understand the assignment so I thought if I cracked some jokes it would take the pressure off....
Joey, I'm so glad you shared that with us! Don't forget that if anybody needs a little extra help or needs an assignment explained in another way, just ask! It's also important to remember that when we work as a group, other people are dependent on us to hold up our end of the bargain and do our part of the job so that the whole team can succeed. Let's all try to keep that in mind for this week's group project, OK?
