Ok, everyone. Lots to think about for next time, huh? I really appreciate everyone sharing today during our morning meeting. Joey and Suzy- why don't you two go and set up for our science project- everything should be on my desk. Bobby- I have a question for you- can you stay a bit?
Hi, Bobby. Thanks for staying back to chat with me. I noticed something while Joey was sharing. Can you tell me a about what happened?
So what I hear you saying is that you didn't like it when Joey interrupted you. That must have been upsetting for you. So it's because of that that you decided to laugh when it was his turn to talk? Is that right?
You mean why was I laughing at Joey while he was talking? Well, he interrupted me when it was my turn..and he makes jokes all the time, so he is used to people laughing at him. I didn't think he'd care.
But you didn't like it when Joey interrupted you....do you think Joey liked it when you laughed at him? How do you think he might have felt?
Yes, that's right.
It's important that everyone at Morning Meeting feels comfortable sharing, knowing that they won't be interrupted or laughed at when they are talking. What could you do differently tomorrow to help everyone feel that way?
I guess he wasn't happy about it- I could see him starting to get upset as he was talking, and then he wouldn't look at me afterwards.
That sounds like a great plan, Bobby! We can definitely start with you tomorrow. How are you feeling now? Are you ready to join the class and start the science project?
I guess I could use my sharing time to apologize to Joey and to say that I was hurt when I was interrupted. I could tell everyone that we should respect what other people have to say.
