Determine the demand and that is done by a creating survey, and find largest suppliers to supply bikes, racks and reaching out to the community to advertise.
Can you briefly explain the process of creating/implementing a bike share system?
No, it has more to with if the community is ready, Portland, Oregon started out small and eventually the demand got bigger. Battle Creek tried, and had a lot of bikes but it did not take off.
Do you think the size of a city contributes to the success of a system?
It would be a good idea for Eastern, since Ypsilanti has a decent downtown area so students can go shopping or just ride around also use them to get to class. Students would use bikes to go to closer communities like depo town and Washtenaw. Maybe long term the bike system could connect to Ann Arbor’s and become a larger chain.
U of M is a big campus, they have a bike share system as well, do you think it would be harder or easier to put on Easter’s campus since it is smaller?
