My mom keeps bugging me to put the milk away or else the milk will curdle and go bad faster.
I wanted to see if my mom was right. To test this theory, I got 2 brand new containers of milk and I left 1 container in the fridge for 3 days untouched. The other I took out of the fridge once a day for 3 hours.
If the milk is not kept cold for a period of time where it warms up to room temperature, and then is put back, the milk starts to reduce the shelf life. If milk is left out for a period of time, it starts to curdle within 2 to 3 days.
I believe that if my mom is correct then the milk that will be left out for 3 hours a day will go bad and curdle during the duration of this test. Also the milk that stays in the fridge should last longer than the milk that is taken out for 3 hours a day.
After 1 day of leaving the milk out for a few hours, the milk looked to be normal. No unusual smell or sour taste, and the milk in the fridge was still perfectly normal.
After 2 days of leaving the milk out for a few hours, the milk started to have a sour smell and the appears did not change. Though the milk in the fridge was fine and had no change to smell or appearance.
